Smoke getting into your living areas is dangerous and aggravating. The last thing you want when you are trying to relax by the fire is to be suffocated with smoke. Our team can diagnose the problem and fix it. We are going to check the dimensions of the chimney, the size of the flue, inspect chimney cap, how the smoke shelf and throat were constructed, and the design of the smoke chamber. In most cases, existing faulty fireplaces can be fixed by making the right alterations. If not, we can build a properly functioning one from scratch.
Why are the faces of my bricks falling off?
Features like chimneys and porches usually have this issue because of poor maintenance. At first, they start of as micro-fractures, which are hard to spot with the naked eye. Eventually, they will crack ever further and start to fall off. In this case, your bricks have to be restored. If they were installed incorrectly, the entire feature will have to be rebuilt properly. Most of the time, we can just extract the bad patches when the surrounding bricks are still strong. When we install new ones, we are always careful to grind out the bed and head joint so that they won’t disturb the existing bricks.
